A great dessert recipe containing maple glazed figs with roasted pistachios, serve with a sweet dessert wine and a scoop of ice cream.

  • 12 figs
  • 2 tbsp dark maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1 tbsp muscovado sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 cinnamon sticks broken up
  • 1 tbsp pistachios


  • Preheat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas6
  • Cut four of the figs in half. Cut a deep cross into the eight remaining figs. Squeeze the bottom of each fig slightly to open them up and place them all into an ovenproof roasting dish.
  • In a separate bowl mix together the remaining ingredients, then pour the mixture over the figs and mix them carefully. Nestle the cinnamon sticks under the figs and roast for 15 minutes.
  • When ready to serve, place 2 figs and 2 fig halves onto a plate and drizzle with the syrup from the baking dish.


Add a scoop of ice cream or fresh fruit for an extravagant touch.
