When you are craving a frozen treat and have no nerve for churning, freezing or waiting then this dessert is perfect for you. It is made in a few seconds and delivers both in texture and flavour. Sounds too good to be true but it is very real. This frozen yoghurt with cherries is so easily and quickly made you will never think of buying frozen yoghurt again.
Because this dessert has very few ingredients, you should look for the best cherries that you can find. I tend to choose Morello cherries. They can be either fresh or frozen, but when you buy them fresh, you will have to pit them and freeze them yourself. Morello cherries are more on the sour side, but this is of huge advantage in this frozen yoghurt recipe. It is their slight acidity is what makes this dessert taste so light and fresh.
Two variations are possible when it comes to this dessert. You can either make an incredibly smooth, frozen yoghurt or you can have chunky pieces of cherries in it. If you want chunky pieces in it, then I would suggest you leave out ¼ of the cherries and add them the very last few seconds to the food processor or blender. That way they will get slightly chopped up while being mixed into the frozen yoghurt.
No matter which version you choose you will have a deliciously refreshing dessert in a matter of seconds. Because it is so easy to make I never make large quantities of it but if you do decide to make a large batch then make sure to store it in an airtight and freezer friendly container. To serve it take it out of the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for a while. This is a frozen yoghurt and not an ice cream, so it will be much harder to scoop once frozen solid because it has a much lower fat content.
