Basic pizza sauce is very easy to come by. You get it both tinned and in jars on every shelf in any supermarket. However there is no logic reason for you to buy the ready sauce. Making one from scratch is so easy, much cheaper and above all it tastes so much better. I know many people cook their sauces and to be fair it is a smart thing to do when you want to stock up your cupboard or give pizza sauce away as a present. I myself stick with the raw version because the sauce itself is cooking on the pizza in a very hot oven anyway. I see no reason to cook a sauce twice.

Basic Pizza Sauce
Ingredients
- 300 g 1 1/2 cups passata
- 1 tsp fresh oregano chopped or 1/2 tsp dry oregano
- 1 tsp fresh basil chopped or 1/2 tsp dry basil
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Instructions
- Simply place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend it. Store leftovers in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for later use.
